Extreme is a harm reduction project that has been active in Tuscany since 1999. It intervenes at music festivals, rave parties, social centres, private parties and general night-life contexts. It intervenes by setting up a chill-out zone consisting of a stand with informative material on the risks relating to the use and abuse of psychoactive substances, with the objective of providing prevention tools and preventative measures with regards to the spread of the HIV virus, hepatitis and other sexually transmitted diseases (sterile syringes, distilled water, condoms etc.). Most of the time, there is a doctor present who handles medical emergency situations. The project covers the entire region of Tuscany in collaboration with CNCA and the ARNERA Cooperative in Pisa.
